For the past seven years, The India Forum has been a platform for insightful writing on urgent issues: ranging from the fragility of citizenship, India’s demographic transition, and the fast-narrowing window of opportunity for the youth, to the multiple economic and environmental crises that beset us.

While there is a cost to producing good work, we have insisted on keeping our articles free to read. At a time when research is locked up behind increasingly unaffordable paywalls, sensationalist takes predominate, and AI slop is crowding out human-written articles, there is even more of an urgency to have a free-to-access source for measured analyses.

Institutional grants cover some of the backend costs for technical development. The editorial side runs on your support. The costs of commissioning, editing, and putting up essays on the website are entirely met by readers like you.

We are looking towards you to raise Rs 30 lakhs by 15 November, to meet our expenses for the remaining 6 months of 2026-27.
